Good morning Lil Luna readers, it’s Sarah here from over at Boxwood Clippings and I’m excited to share a project with you today.
A couple of years ago, I made a coffee-filter and cupcake-liner wreath that still hangs in my living room today.
Although it was quite a time-consuming project, the results were well worth it, and I’ve always wanted to make more.
This time I thought I’d mix it up a bit, and make letters instead of a regular wreath. The letters could be used as a single monogram, but I decided, “why not create a whole word, like ‘LOVE’?”
Again, I’m really pleased with the results and have already thought of many different ways I can use this both in the home, and for parties. But best of all, the whole project cost under $12! Holler!
To make this project you will need:
About 200 coffee filters ($1.25 at Walmart)
Cardboard (I just used a shipping box I had: $0!)
Glue Gun and Sticks (I had the gun, $5 on glue)
About half a swimming noodle per letter ($1 each at the Dollar Tree)
Pencil and Scissors.

These are darling! Do you think I could dye the coffee filters before doing this and get the same beautiful results? I would love to hang each of my daughters’ initials in their room and also do BAPTIZED for above my daughters dessert table at her baptism and 8th b-day party next year (although I suppose that could be left white).
Hi Cheryl! Yes, you can dye them first. I do it all the time when crafting with coffee filters.

I made a letter and it turned out great! Question though, what is the best way to hang these on the wall? And this point I have tape holding it up and I’m not sure how long that will last
Oooh! Would love to see a picture! I would use command strips… the letter shouldn’t be heavy and command strips are the best for easily applying and taking off the wall. 🙂

do you think you could do this with colored tissue paper?
I think it would work as well… or even the Brown Coffee Letters. It would be more work with tissue paper since they’re not cut into circles, but would work. 🙂
I have read and watched many tutorials on how to do these type of wreaths… YOUR WAY IS THE EASIEST! It’s very stable, very inexpensive, and the final product really does look and feel well made! I like your instructions very much and would like to say thanks… Made L-O-V-E in rainbow colored filters for my daughters living room, as well as a square shape with pale green colored filters with a nice engagement photo in the center for my step daughter. When I covered the cardboard with duct tape, it added to it’s stability to hold the clear sheet protected photo hanging from simple chains. Beautisimo!!!

Is it possible to make these without pool noodle? I am making these in the shape of hearts as Christmas gifts, do I need 200 coffee filters? The hearts are about 15 inches tall.
