I know a lot of women that HAVE to get out each day during the summer. They take their kids to the pool or the movies, or the park just so they don’t stay holed up in their houses all day long. With four little kids, it’s not always the easiest for me to get out each day (plus, there always seems to be lots to get done around the house) so I’m constantly trying to think of fun things to do at home, especially cuz it’s so HOT outside.
Probably the most favorite thing my kids like to do is COLOR and make GAK. They color literally every day (we have a LARGE supply of crayons and paper) and we make GAK all the time! What I love best about it is that it’s not super messy and even the 2 year old can get in on the fun without it making a huge mess (although I warn not to let them get it on their clothes – that can be difficult to get off).
Anyway, we’ve also had lots of play dates this summer with new friends that we’ve made here in Texas and the kiddos are always so excited to make GAK (also known as Goo) with them. I thought it would be fun to turn it into a little summer gift (modified from this Gak Gift Idea), especially for the little ones who are always exclaiming how BORED they are during the summer.
{Get it?! Gak is also known as GOO, so I said GOO’d! LOL!}
Supply cost is minimal and the Gak can honestly provide HOURS of entertainment. If you’re looking for a fun gift to give to the kiddos or to the neighbor kids, here is what you’ll need to make this GOOd Summer Gift Idea.
SUPPLIES:
– Container to put everything in (I get mine from the dollar section at Target)
– Plastic Container (for the Gak to go into)
– Gak supplies (2 bottles Elmer’s Glue, 1 tsp. borax, food coloring)
– Printables (found below)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Gather all your supplies
2. Download your Printables by clicking on the color you want above. Then right-click and SAVE it.
Open it in a program like WORD and re-size it to what you want. Print and Cut out.
3. Add your print to the front of your box/container.
4. Also print the recipe card above by clicking on it and then right-clicking and saving. You can tie this to the outside with some ribbon or twine or print off and put in the container.
5. Add everything to your box (gak container – where I put the food coloring and the borax in a plastic bag, bottles of glue and recipe).
Voila!
Cute and promised to entertain the kiddos for hours.
For more information about the Gak you can see the original recipe HERE.
