Pilgrim Hat Crayon Cups

Crafts + DIY· Holidays· Printables

These simple Pilgrim Hat Crayon Cups are a cute and easy craft that makes for a fun kids’ activity on Thanksgiving. All it takes to make these cute pilgrim hats is black cups, scrapbook paper, buttons, and rick rack. Print out some of our free Thanksgiving coloring placemats to go along with the crayon cups to make a darling table setup!

Pilgrim Hat Craft

I LOVE this time of year. It’s filled with so many fun traditions and allows for so many opportunities to make memories with your family. One of our favorite holidays to celebrate is Thanksgiving. I feel like it’s the best holiday to celebrate family and really share our gratitude for all we’ve been given. A few years back I had seen some cute Pilgrim Hat Crayon Cups that I thought would be perfect to make for Turkey Day. My kids love to color and craft while the parents finish up the Turkey dinner, and I thought these cups would be great for some cute table decor to hold the crayons in.

I decided to make my own version of the cups and LOVE how they turned out. They took only minutes to put together and I’ve already set them aside to use next month on Thanksgiving. Even though we aren’t by family, I know we’ll be celebrating with friends and in case you will be gathering with friends and family too, these cups would be great for the kids table. I should also mention that they are super cheap too!

How to Make a Pilgrim Hat Crayon Cup:

SUPPLIES:

  • Black Paper Cups (found mine at Hobby Lobby)
  • Black Card Stock
  • Ric Rac
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Buttons
  • Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue
  • X-acto Knife

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Gather all your supplies.
  2. Using an X-acto knife, carve out the bottom of the cup.
  3. Begin by hot gluing ric rac to the rim of your cup. Wrap it around and hot glue again to secure.
  4. From there, hot glue a square piece of scrapbook paper where the ric rac ended. On top of that, hot glue a button.
  5. Fill with crayons.

NOTE: The crayons were about the same height of the cup, so I added some shredded paper inside the cups so the crayons stuck out. 😉

Cute and Simple! Just how I like things. 🙂 I think these Crayon Cups will be the perfect addition to our Thanksgiving kids table!!

This is such a cute idea!! My twins are too young to be trusted alone at a kids table, or with crayons for that matter, but I’m pinning so I remember to do this next year.

It depends on the size of cup you use, but ours was probably about 3 inches.

LOVE these very very much! I have grandchildren and I know sometimes their parents are a bit frazzled when the kids start to act up a little because they’re bored. I’m surprising them with some of these activities and the pilgrim hat crayon holders. Well, we’re surprising the parents because the grandkids are helping so they’re excited.
